The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has recalculated the star ratings for Medicare Advantage plans, a move that could lead to increased volatility within the program.

Plans achieving a rating of four stars or higher are eligible for substantial bonus payments, which have reached $16 billion this year.
